The Stihl MS181 14-Inch Chain Saw is a chainsaw with a 35 cm (14 in) bar and petrol power.
A 35 cm bar cuts a log of about 35 cm in a single pass, and is at its most comfortable on timber up to roughly 30 cm. Thicker wood is not impossible, since cutting from both sides doubles the effective capacity, but it is slower and harder to keep straight.
The specification lists an output of 2, a 2000W motor, a 152V battery platform, a listed weight of 6 kg.
It is fitted with low-kickback chain.
Petrol suits firewood, felling and work away from power. Budget for a 50:1 two-stroke mix unless the manual says otherwise, keep the bar oil topped up, and do not store it over winter with fuel in the carburettor. It is a homeowner grade machine, intended for occasional use rather than daily work.
Specifications are as published by the manufacturer or the retailer listing rather than measured by us. Always check the figures on the product page before buying.
