The saw operates using one battery. The capacity of the batteries provided is quite small, so each battery will only last between 15 and 30 mins depending on the wood you are cutting. The saw works really well and will easily cut logs 8/10 inch in diameter. Larger logs are more of a challenge. It will cut them effectively but the battery will drain quite quickly! It cannot match a petrol driven saw for power, but is far lighter, quieter and requires very little maintenance. If you only use a chainsaw occasionally it will do the job effectively and you will feel far more comfortable using it than a petrol alternative.
